Findings from Fyvie Castle, Gardens and Estate

The first pilot assessment that we have completed is that for Fyvie Castle, Gardens and Estate. This proved to be a really interesting and rich assessment, with a mixture of overlapping interests, values, and activities associated with different aspects of the property. In this post we provide an overview of the assessment process and summarise some of the key findings.

Pilot Social Values Assessments

Over the last three months, the Research Team have been focusing on the pilot assessments for Fyvie Castle, Gardens and Estate, Ben Lomond, and Balmacara Estate. These are three very different properties, in terms of location and type, but there are some common questions at the heart of all the pilot assessments. Put simply, these are: 1) who values this place, and 2) how do they value it?

Pilot Site Selection

Over the last few months, the Research Team have been working to identify a group of properties that will be the focus for the pilot social values assessments. With such an interesting variety of places in the Trust’s portfolio, any one of which has the potential to be a fascinating study, coming up with a short list was no easy task!
